Devastated Hong Kong Locals in Disbelief as Major Inferno Ravages Apartment Buildings

"Moving near the scene, the heat rises and you can feel it, with the smoke being very thick."

Young scholar Thomas Liu was among the many residents attracted to the site of a tragic blaze that ravaged much of the eight-building housing complex in the region's Tai Po district.

No fewer than thirty-six residents have lost their lives in yesterday's devastating blaze so far, with many still not located, indicating that this figure will probably increase.

"This is a disaster," the student remarked about the blaze, noting that he had witnessed a deceased person being transported from the scene.

Over a 1,000 additional individuals were compelled to evacuate the estate as the blaze advanced, with some going to emergency facilities that have been established to house them.

The blaze is progressively being contained, but emergency responders state they cannot determine when it will be entirely put out.

Flames could be witnessed coming from separate apartments as countless residents observed in silence.

"I'm overwhelmed. We have so countless neighbours and acquaintances. I have no idea what is occurring anymore. See, all the homes are just ablaze. I am unsure what to do. I hope the authorities can support us to rebuild after this."

A woman mentioned that her neighbors live inside the structure and she was staying to discover if they succeeded to escape.

A long-term resident, who has resided in block two of the housing complex for in excess of forty annums, recalled hearing "an extremely loud sound" and seeing fire break out in a nearby structure.

"I immediately went inside to collect my things," the elderly occupant commented.

"I cannot comprehend how I personally right now. I'm just pondering about where I'm going to sleep tonight because I almost certainly won't be able to go return to my home."

Although the origin of the blaze that engulfed the several tall buildings continues to be unidentified, the flames are believed to have rapidly expanded through the construction framework that enveloped the buildings, which were in the process of improvements.

Numerous individuals have expressed anger that such a large-scale fire could have taken place and challenged the response.

"When there's a forest fire, they will employ aircraft and drop fire retardant, but why is there not any action and how can they allow further structures burning?" inquired one more occupant of the estate.

"The community is so close to the fire department and we thought the inferno could be controlled rapidly, but presently the blaze has advanced. I'm so disheartened," she continued.

She mentioned that she had been provided no instructions from the authorities on where to seek help.

Several Tai Po community members had provided necessities to the affected individuals - including many of warm layers and warming devices.

When asked about their sentiments regarding the blaze, locals stated that "local administration is incompetent" and that they were "extremely distraught".

"We hope not to witness any additional fatalities," remarked a resident.

An elderly female who resides in one of the damaged blocks stated she was not at home when the incident started but that she is anxious about her apartment because it is uninsured.

"I'm extremely troubled that I have no home to go to at present," she remarked.
